On September 7, Online Summer School “Modern Russian Science and Culture“ has started. 31 students and also teachers from six partner universities took part in.

The partner universities are Hiroshima University, Ehime University (Japan), Tashkent Transport University (Uzbekistan), the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém (Portugal), Osh State University (Kyrgyzstan) and South China Normal University (China). Asian countries are the most interested in cooperation with Russia.

OSU rector Zhanna Ermakova welcomed the participants of the summer school and expressed her belief that there would be successful off line cooperation after the pandemic.

All the participants were thankful for an opportunity to experience Russian culture and science, though they could only do it online. Representatives of all the participating universities have expressed their gratitude to us, and representatives of Tashkent Transpaort University gave a special warm words of gteetings to all,“ — said Lyiudmila Dokashenko, Director of OSU Department of International Cooperation and Education Development.

On the first day lecturers from OSU introduces the students to our university and briefed on peculiarities of doing business in Russia. On Tuesday there were lectures on geography and Russian culture in the context of cross-cultural communication. It was also the day for participating universities to present their schools. They focused on the strengths of their universities, told the history of their cities and countries. Masaru Hiroshi, Hiroshima University students, introduced himself in Russian and then told that despite the terrible catastrophe in Hiroshima in the past it is a nice green city now. There are beautiful parks with ponds and forests on his university’s campus.

Students from other countries were interested to know how people greet each other, how much do they kiss, and how they shake hands in our country in comparison to the others. They have also discovered what is a real friendship for Russians. We hope that this knowledge will be useful after opening of borders.
